ED, Indirect Sourcing
- Define and deliver value to patients and business partners that aligns with KP’s mission
- Manage spend in excess of $ 3B annually in medical supplies and equipment as part of Kaiser Permanente’s global procurement strategy
- Develops annual cost savings programs to drive KP affordability agenda
- Develops sourcing and category management strategies that mitigate inflation and improve supply chain resiliency
- Aware of and stays current on external and internal influences that may impact medical supplies and equipment
- Identifies sourcing and process improvement opportunities that align with business partner’s goals
- Owns and builds senior executive relationships
- This person directly interacts with senior internal stakeholders and oversees the implementation of stakeholder goals through the sourcing organization.
- The position directly affects the 70 resources in the Sourcing organization and directly supports the implementation of delivery of value within KP.
- Work closely with Supplier Relationship Management, and Sourcing teams, to build supplier relationships with key and critical suppliers. Manages the most senior relationships with key suppliers
- Collaborates with other Sourcing, Procurement Operations, Supply Chain, Finance and SRM COE Teams
- Works with the National Products Council to develop standards and sourcing strategy
Essential Responsibilities:
- Leadership – As a member of the management team for Kaiser Permanente, assist in the development of, and responsible for the execution of a business strategy, and to ensure delivery of required business performance within a particular portfolio.
- Sourcing Leadership – Provide guidance and advice to assigned clients, to support the strategy and policy for the function in their technical business environment.
- Process – Install Category Portfolio Management as a core sustainable processes and enablers of delivery.
- Performance – Responsible and accountable for an appropriate proportion of Savings, Diversity and Environmental annual goals, along with their peers and colleagues.
- Change Management – Adopt high quality change practices with customers and stakeholders, building and implementing a relationship which is sustainable. Be a personal exemplar of good practice.
- Business – Ensure that the approach adopted is aligned with and supports Kaiser Permanente procurement strategy and the needs of the Medical Foundation and Health Plan. Drive key initiatives and act as a change agent and influencer for Procurement in the specific portfolio area,working collaboratively with our partners to ensure effective business, and procurement and supply strategies are adopted for the client’s needs.
This position has a target base salary of $234,000 to $292,500 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.
- Minimum seven (7) years experience, at Director level, or equivalent, in a combination of purchasing, materials management, warehouse operations, goods and services contracting, construction contracting, finance or other related areas.
- Minimum five (5) years of direct or non-formal management experience.
- Bachelor-s degree in business administration, finance, operations research, materials management, economics or related field; OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

- Experience building and developing teams, including cross functional teams, in a manner utilizing high degrees of collaboration, where direct reports are not at hand to direct work to
- Hands on role in delivering projects and associated benefits in a professional manner
- Expert knowledge of Procurement category strategies
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategic alliances and other high-level contractual relationships, determine key issues in a project or operational situation, involve the appropriate individuals and develop appropriate plans of action from multi-disciplinary perspective, lead professionals and manage others through influence and cooperation, communicate persuasively and effectively to wide range of internal and external customers, consistently make sound business and financial judgments, manage and function well within a complex reporting relationship, and satisfy accountabilities to a wide range of internal customers.
- Professional certification such as a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) preferred
- Health care or retail experience preferred.
- Master-s degree a plus.
