Job Summary:
  • In this role, the day-to-day work is highly collaborative, deadline-driven, and grounded in structured project management within a complex healthcare environment.
  • On a practical level, this means managing multiple workstreams that support a national RN Residency Program-such as creating communication dashboards, streamlining and standardizing core workflows, critically evaluating and assessing current curriculum -while adhering to established project plans, timelines, and organizational standards.

  • Project Coordination & Execution
    • Support planning and execution of national RN Residency initiatives by managing timelines, tasks, and deliverables in alignment with project plans and organizational standards.
    • Track progress, dependencies, risks, and issues; escalate concerns and propose solutions as needed.

    • Identify opportunities to improve RN Residency Program workflows, tools, and processes using data, feedback, and lessons learned.

  • Our Residency Program is newer (created in fall 2023) and one of few enterprise-wide programs utilizing a diverse team from all markets/regions. This offers unique challenges and opportunities to be innovative, take risks, and build the plane while flying it.
  • Our program is one of the few that offers KP a return on investment as we provide a healthy workforce pipeline of RN Residents. We hire between 550-650 newly graduated nurses with plans to expand to over 1000/year. Our team of 18 is mighty and is expected to grow over the next 2 years. 
  • An example project this person may be tasked with - create a dashboard or other type interface that provides the clinical site coordinator all necessary information to conduct rounds on the RN Residents/New Grad RNs including work schedule, current progress with courses, snapshot of last round, individual education needs, and other perinate information needed. 

This individual level contributor is primarily responsible for adhering to a project plan, working with internal customers, third party vendors and senior management.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date knowledge in subject area to meet deadlines; following procedures and policies, and applying data and resources to support projects or initiatives; collaborating with others, often cross-functionally, to solve business problems; supporting the completion of priorities, deadlines, and expectations; communicating progress and information; identifying and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities when possible; and escalating issues or risks as appropriate.

  • Assists with project financials by monitoring financial aspects for assigned project initiatives.
  • Monitors project performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope and with quality) against plan under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager.
  • Assists with project activities related to organizational change management (e.g., development and execution of user adoption, implementation, and training plans) as defined by the project.
  • Follows established processes and policies (e.g. SDLC including domain standards, Kaiser standards).
  • Allocates resources, establishes schedules, and makes task assignments.
  • Manages the work of project teams with guidance from a more senior Project Manager.
  • Assists with the management of project sub-teams by ensuring assignment and tracking of tasks for team members.
  • Promotes project vision and objectives with project team.
  • Supports the management and proactive mitigation of project issues and risks by assisting in the analysis and resolution of trigger events.
  • Supports the compliance of project plans by following policies and procedures.
  • Provides ongoing support to project personnel by regularly communicating with project team members to ensure schedule data and changes are accurately interpreted and accounted for.
  • Works closely with key stakeholders.
  • Provides real-time updates to Project Managers regarding scheduling conflicts and budget disparities.
  • Requests internal or external resources to support completion of project activities and changes in schedule, scope, and budget.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum one (1) year experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of project life cycle methodologies (e.g., SDLC, process management, organizational change).

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS or related field and Minimum two (2) years experience in project planning and coordination. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years experience developing project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) used to create project schedules and estimates.
  • One (1) year experience working on projects or programs requiring the integration of cross-functional technology and/or business solutions.
  • High competence using PowerBI application (or willingness to be trained) along with all MS Suite Applications
  • Ability to work within a high performing team in multiple time zones and markets
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and self-directed work
  • Competence with various communication avenues (email, teams meetings, dashboards, etc.)
  • Skill with proactively offering solutions, alternatives, and escalations
