Job Summary:

The Vice President, National Community Engagement is the enterprise leader responsible for advancing Kaiser Permanentes community engagement strategy, strengthening the organizations reputation and mission impact, and ensuring Kaiser Permanente shows up in communities across the country as a coordinated enterprise whose collective impact is greater than the sum of its individual parts.

Reporting directly to the Chief Public Affairs Officer and serving as a member of the Public Affairs leadership team, this executive provides strategic leadership for National Community Engagement while serving as the center of excellence for community engagement across Kaiser Permanente markets.

The Vice President is responsible for connecting Kaiser Permanentes not-for-profit mission, community investments, stakeholder relationships, sponsorships, employee engagement, community health priorities, customer engagement, and growth objectives into a cohesive enterprise strategy that advances both mission and business outcomes.

This leader establishes enterprise strategy, governance, standards, tools, reporting, and operating models while enabling market and local teams to execute effectively in ways that reflect local community needs, stakeholder relationships, and market realities. A core responsibility of the role is creating a One KP approach to community engagement that strengthens consistency, visibility, measurement, and impact across markets while allowing for thoughtful local execution.

The Vice President serves as Kaiser Permanentes enterprise leader for executive and board engagement in communities, national community partnerships, employee volunteerism, sponsorship activation, community visibility, local stakeholder engagement, and community-facing relationship strategies. The role ensures that Kaiser Permanentes community investments, relationships, and activities reinforce the organizations reputation, values, mission, and strategic priorities.

A critical responsibility of the role is ensuring Kaiser Permanente maintains a coordinated and visible presence within local communities nationwide. This includes overseeing enterprise approaches to stakeholder engagement, community intelligence, relationship management, and local influence-building while ensuring market and Risant teams maintain strong relationships with civic, nonprofit, business, community, and local government leaders. The Vice President is responsible for creating systems that capture, share, and leverage stakeholder intelligence across the organization to strengthen decision-making, reputation management, issue anticipation, and community engagement efforts.

Working in partnership with Community Health, Government Relations, Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, Public Affairs, and market leaders, the Vice President develops integrated approaches that strengthen Kaiser Permanentes community presence, deepen stakeholder trust, support customer and member engagement, and demonstrate the organizations commitment to improving the health of the communities it serves.

The Vice President is accountable for building a modern, enterprise-wide community engagement capability that enables Kaiser Permanente to strengthen community relationships, amplify mission impact, improve organizational visibility, support enterprise growth objectives, and position the organization as a trusted and influential community partner nationwide.
