Job Summary:

KP Cloud and Infrastructure Services (CIS) provides the platforms and tools that enable KP developers and application teams to deliver their applications at scale, supporting the KP business, clinicians, and our members.  We are dedicated to providing highly available and resilient platforms and tools that KP applications teams depend on to develop, promote, and host their mission-critical applications.
Cloud Platform Services and Operations partners with KP application teams and KP Enterprise Architecture (EA) to define the enterprise hybrid cloud platform and services strategy.  From this strategy, the CIS Cloud Platform Services and Operations Team provides overall leadership to the design, implementation, and operation of the enterprise private and public cloud platforms, related services, and standards.  Our mission is to provide highly available, reliable, and secure IaaS, PaaS, and containers services that enable KP application teams to host their application workloads in both public and private cloud environments.
The Executive Director of Cloud Platform Services and Operations should be an expert in defining and executing enterprise-level IT strategies that integrate cutting-edge cloud technologies to enable business outcomes. This position will lead multiple departments supporting KP-s hybrid cloud strategy, operation of standard cloud products and services, and enablement of application teams on related cloud platforms.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Overall leadership of three Cloud Platform related departments.
  • Private Cloud Platform Services - Enablement and operations of KP-s on-premises private cloud platform and overall IaaS product and service strategy.
  • Cloud Platform Engineering - Enablement and operations of KP-s public cloud platform on Azure and related PaaS product and services strategy.
  • Containers Platform & Adoption Services - Enablement and operations of KP-s containers/Kubernetes product and service strategy.  Support of KP application team adoption and onboarding into containers services.
  • Defining and continually enhancing the KP enterprise hybrid cloud platform vision, strategy and service offerings. Producing, maintaining, and executing a formalized strategy roadmap for the cloud platforms and related IaaS, PaaS, and containers services.
  • Establishing and maintaining the design and engineering methodology across departments that ensures high quality, secure, reliable, maintainable, solutions are consistently deployed.
  • Designing, deploying, and operating scalable and secure private and public cloud platforms in support of KP internal customer workloads.
  • Enhancing and transforming the overall hybrid cloud platform operating model and management systems to optimize efficiencies across private cloud, public cloud, and containers services.
  • Partnering with the KP Enterprise Architecture Team and internal KP application team stakeholders to continuously evolve and enable new cloud services aligned to KP enterprise strategy and application team workload needs.
  • Bring new cloud services to market in support of KP Enterprise Architecture strategy and KP peer organization needs (Data and Analytics, AI, Enterprise Technology Services, etc).
  • Process reengineering to bring new cloud services to market faster while maintaining security controls and steady state operational excellence.  
  • Maintaining awareness of cloud service market trends as input into the continuously maturing KP hybrid cloud strategy.

  • Stakeholder Management
  • Executive-level stakeholder management and collaboration with KP Enterprise Architecture, Technology Risk Office, KP Regions / Application Teams, and KP Digital.
  • Collaborating with KP application team stakeholders to continuously refine and improve the services this organization delivers in support of the KP application and developer community.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Platform and service operations management that consistently maintains secure, performant, scalable, and highly available private cloud, public cloud, and containers services.
  • Leading large-scale investment programs with responsibility for strategy, scope, financial management, schedule, project delivery, and business outcomes.
  • Leading execution of strategic technology selection, transformation, adoption, migration, integration, and retirements.
  • Financial, Contract, and Vendor Management
  • Partnering with KP Sourcing to achieve optimal contracts and pricing (hardware, software, and services).
  • Management of 3rd party vendors in support of service delivery to KP, including related contracting, negotiations, and ongoing service delivery governance.
  • Management and governance of offshore support organizations in the delivery of services.
  • Leadership of technology assessments, down selection recommendations, and related proof of concepts.
  • Exceptional Teams and Culture
  • Function as a hybrid cloud evangelist and enabler, driving broader adoption of the KP standard cloud platforms, services, and products.
  • Champion a positive culture, attracting and retaining the best talent, while delivering solutions with high technical quality and reliability.
  • Consistently demonstrate integrity in words and actions which cultivate positive partnerships across the KP organization.
  • Mentor and coach managers to create healthy execution-focused teams that balance innovation, speed, and operational performance.
  • Support squad team members on deliverables by removing roadblocks and addressing challenges as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading engineering and operations teams with a strong track record of building and delivering cutting edge technology platforms and related capabilities.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience leading enterprise technology strategy development in support of business needs.
  • Minimum four (4) years of senior level experience, with significant experience and success managing complex technology initiatives involving multiple functions and/or multiple business units/regions in a corporate setting.
Education

  • Bachelor-s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A

Additional Requirements:
  • Experience with technical innovation in a cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and consensus without clear authority.
  • An ambitious and pioneering leader who has strong business acumen, experience with technology including strategy development and leading people.
Preferred Qualifications:
