Pharmacy Operations Master's Intern

This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working at the following address: 5820 Owens Drive, Pleasanton, CA 94588.
Department Details:
The Regional Clinical Pharmacy Operations oversees 30+ pharmacy services, including primary care, cardiovascular and diabetes care, anticoagulation, medication adherence and refill management, mental health/psychiatry, and other specialties. As an intern, you'll work with pharmacy leaders and staff across Northern California, contributing to initiatives that improve patient care related to medication management. The intern will experience both high-level decision-making and hands-on operations, from director calls to technical discussions with front-line teams. You'll have opportunities to join peer group meetings and communities of practice, connecting with departments like data science, health equity, and patient advisory councils to learn and collaborate. Depending on your project, you may work with large datasets from a population of over 4 million members in an integrated healthcare system.
Internship Projects:
Projects with NCAL Regional Clinical Pharmacy Operations will ultimately be tailored to your core interests and skillsets, and could include projects relating to our current priorities:
Streamline workflow efficiencies and identify program opportunities to improve patient outcomes
Exploring applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in pharmacy, such as optimizing medication management, supporting clinical decision-making, and enhancing workflow efficiencies
Health equity data and initiatives
Increasing the member's voice through Member Advisory Council engagement & integration of patient-reported outcomes
Data science, predictive modeling, data product design and integration
Marketing project to reshape public perceptions of clinical pharmacy services and medication use

Target Skillset:
Ability to think critically and systematically about complex problems, using established frameworks to identify improvement areas.
Values collaboration across departments and innovation.
Strong communication, organizational skills, and self-motivation are essential.
Data analysis experience is preferred but not required. You will help transform complex information into actionable insights to enhance member care with your fresh perspectives.
Job Summary:
This position provides analytical support to a project or department. Under the guidance of a Project Manager/ Director, responsible for collecting and researching data, performing analysis, providing recommendations and presenting results.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for contributing high level analytical support to a project or department requiring application of knowledge in marketing, information management, finance, management, economics or statistics. This position contributes to a full range of project components.
- Assigned to at least one project and expected to produce results and report out as a member of a project team. Organizes assigned project tasks, identifies and structures information collection activities, and sets time lines for completion of required tasks as directed.
- Develops tools to identify and to document best practices. Prepares various excel, word or PowerPoint reports, and works with access database software (or similar tool) to develop data extracts and management information reports. May be asked to produce graphic information using excel or PowerPoint or similar software.
- Contributes to development of management information and analysis conducted, provides recommendations and assists with preparation of formal presentations to communicate results to various management levels. Identifies alternative solutions to project issues. Contributes to development project plans to ensure timely deliverables and successful completion of project and demonstrates an understanding of various business intersections. Assists with identification and development of training information.

- Enrolled in or recent graduate of a MBA or other Masters level program with an accredited college or university.

- Solid analytical skills, problem solving, project management and critical thinking.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to utilize at a working level Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/ Management Partnership environment.
- Knowledge of SQL or SAS highly desirable.
