Research Project Manager V
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is also responsible for serving as the project manager working in coordination with the principal investigator of moderate to complex research projects; leveraging advanced knowledge to collaborate and/or lead portions of the development, preparation, and timely submission of proposals; coordinating, allocating, and managing resources and budgets for research projects; overseeing the execution of research studies including data gathering activities; overseeing compliance with local, federal, and industry requirements, as well as adherence to grant/contract and regulatory requirements for complex projects; developing and implementing complex research protocols; guiding and mentoring others on the development of study materials and Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications; proactively identifying training needs and resources, leading the creation of training materials, overseeing the training and certification programs for new team members and clinical staff while ensuring all administrative requirements and certifications are current; overseeing the preparation of qualitative and/or quantitative data for analyses; and developing and maintaining the tools, systems, and forms for documentation, reporting, and dissemination of research study activities.

- Conducts or oversees business-specific projects by applying deep expertise in subject area; promotes adherence to all procedures and policies. Develops work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; coordinates and delegates resources to accomplish organizational goals. Recognizes and capitalizes on improvement opportunities; evaluates recommendations made; influences the completion of project tasks by others.
- Enforces compliance practices by: monitoring adherence of project activities to policies and procedures by ensuring project plans and team members follow KP, departmental, and/or business line policies and procedures.
- Guides others by: leading the work of large project teams by monitoring internal and external resources; leading others in requesting and coordinating internal and/ or external resources based on the alignment of team member skills and project demands; and communicating a clear vision of project goals and objectives to the team; and delivering performance feedback to team members supervisors.
- Leads project management activities by: managing multiple large-scale projects with responsibility and accountability for project outcomes from initiation to close-out; developing, analyzing, and managing complex project plans which include scope identification and management, schedule, inter-dependencies, and resource forecast; managing and monitors the project financials of multiple large projects; monitoring overall project performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope, and with quality) against plan, ensuring measurement of business benefits and outcomes, and makes adjustments as needed; leading project activities related to organizational change management (e.g., development and execution of user adoption, implementation, and training plans) as defined by the project; and driving allocation of resources, establishes schedules, and task assignments to ensure established project management practices are in place.
- Addresses project concerns by: proactively monitoring, identifying, and mitigating project risks, issues, and trigger events by developing mitigation plans and strategies; and resolving or escalating risks or issues as appropriate.
- Drives stakeholder management by: ensuring the alignment, buy-in, engagement and support of diverse project stakeholders by building and maintaining relationships as well as communicating appropriately with internal customers, third party vendors, senior management, and business leaders; clarifying accountability and authority across stakeholders; identifying and working closely with key stakeholders based on their level of influence and decision making and ensuring all appropriate stakeholders are represented and included; providing insight to key stakeholders and project sponsors by developing project goals, setting the prioritization of deliverables, discussing involvement of business processes (e.g. project change management, communication) and facilitating decisions necessary for project delivery; and communicating tough issues to stakeholders while maintaining an independent opinion, providing recommendations, delivering formal presentations, and providing reports to various senior audiences.
- Leads vendor management activities by: reviewing vendor performance levels and ensuring service level agreements are met; partnering with Procurement and/or Legal to develop service level and/or scope of work agreements as appropriate; and participating in contract negotiations with vendors and reviews project invoices submitted by vendors for accuracy.
- Bachelors degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Health Services, Statistics, or Health Economics, or related field AND minimum eight (8) years of experience in health research, public health, laboratory or social science research setting, epidemiology, social or behavioral sciences, health services or a directly related field. OR Minimum eleven (11) years of experience in health research, public health, laboratory or social science research setting, epidemiology, social or behavioral sciences, health services or a directly related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience implementing large, complex projects in a corporate, non-profit, or government environment.
