Job Summary:

Leads high-level professional, substantive, technical, and administrative coordination for senior investigators and investigators in the design, implementation, day-to-day operations, and dissemination of findings of research, demonstration, and evaluation projects.  This position can serve as an investigator extender that functions independently and can represent the investigator at scientific meetings and presentations.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Participate with senior investigators and investigators in designing, developing, implementing, and conducting research projects in the substantive field of knowledge on which the research is based (e.g., economics, sociology, epidemiology, anthropology, psychology, etc.), and, at the direction of an investigator, take the lead in designing, developing, and implementing smaller research projects connected to an investigators research agenda and program of research (multiple related projects).

  • Supervise and train project staff and direct a diverse set of research activities on two or more large research projects or on a program of research with multiple components.

  • Translate specific research questions into appropriate functional and analytic designs and protocols and operationalizing conceptual variables; take; at the direction of the investigator, create or assist, new health-related interventions and lead substantive sections of a research study related to knowledge and expertise.

  • Participate in designing and interpreting statistical analyses of research data and in preparing presentations and publications to disseminate findings from research projects; at the direction of the investigator, take the lead in designing, implementing, interpreting and reporting analyses of research data to address specific subsidiary research questions connected to a research program or agenda. Lead author on publications and/or  scientific presentations.  May provide specific vital expertise at co-author level (e.g. biostatistics or systematic reviews.

  • Develops proposal ideas with Principal Investigator.  Actively seeks new funding opportunities for investigators program of research; functions as co-investigator or key personnel on proposals; may serve as Principal Investigator with CHR Leadership approval.
