Job Summary:
In addition to performing the duties of a KPNW Dispatch Officer the purpose of this position is to monitor the assigned duties of other full time, part-time and an-call Dispatch Officers assigned to the FSDC and to coordinate training of new hire and assigned personnel with management. Direct the appropriate response for emergency situations and calls for service.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs Dispatcher duties as outlines in Facility Services Dispatch job description.
- Coordinate the work of dispatch personnel to ensure that shift tasks are carried out and monitors day to day ship requirements. The lead dispatcher will ensure all requests for services are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Provides oversight for FSDC issues such as shift reports, equipment priorities. Takes appropriate action and reports to the Assistant Security Managers as necessary.
- Assists in the training of new officer(s), on-call officer(s) or assigned officer(s) as delegated and provide feedback of progress to Asst. Security Manager.
- Ensure the timely transfer of critical information pertaining to the Dispatch Center to each shift and the appropriate Assistant Security Manager or on-call Security Manager and provides customer service as required by Regional standards and policy.
- Direct the appropriate response for emergency situations and calls for service and notify all appropriate managers, administrators and assistant security manager of events requiring immediate attention.
- Works with Security Lead Officers to ensure effective working relationship between dispatch and security and timely resolution of issues.
- Provides the Assistant Security Manager with input regarding annual and probationary performance appraisals. Will ensure that new dispatch officers are properly oriented and trained as prescribed by department and Regional policy. Keeps Assistant Security Manager appraised of formal complaints received, resolved and unresolved employee performance issues, and/or staffing issues. Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in security or Dispatch Operations.
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience working in a hospital and medical environment.
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Security Officer Certificate (Oregon) required at hire
- Drivers License (in location where applicable)

- Organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and handle multiple priorities.

- Thorough knowledge of security alarm systems and their operation.
- Thorough knowledge of electronic access control systems and their operation.
- Thorough knowledge of CCTV operation and computer applications related to security reporting systems.
- Thorough knowledge of standard safety and security guidelines and security procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in Dispatch Operations.
- Minimum three (3) years of recent security experience working in a hospital and medical environment.
- Psychology or Human Behavior Courses.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various security alarm systems and their operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Dispatch Operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electronic access control systems and their operation.
- Completed classes in delivery of customer service.
- Advanced knowledge of safety and security guidelines, security procedures and Regional policies and procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of CCTV operation and computer applications to include reporting systems AIMS, IRIMS, MS Word and MS Excel programs.
- Demonstrated customer-focused service skills.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
