Assistant Director, Rehabilitation Services
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is also responsible for providing expert guidance and oversight to multidisciplinary teams in the provision of and/or providing rehabilitation services (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy); allocating resources for rehabilitation services (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy) daily operations; overseeing rehabilitation services teams clinical competency in evidence-based care and compliance with all licensure and documentation across multiple sites; developing and executing rehabilitation services clinical initiatives and training and education programs; and driving collaborations with interdisciplinary teams and physicians on the clinical program development and implementation of rehabilitation services clinical practice and shared models of care.
- Creates and advocates for developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative, cross-functional relationships. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; works with leaders and employees to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement. Pursues professional growth; hires, trains, and develops talent for growth opportunities; strategically evaluates talent for succession planning; sets performance management guidelines and expectations across teams / units. Oversees implementation, adapts, and stays up to date with organizational change, challenges, feedback, best practices, processes, and industry trends; shares best practices within and across teams. Fosters open dialogue amongst team members, engages, motivates, and promotes collaboration within and across teams; motivates teams to meet business objectives. Delegates tasks and decisions as appropriate; provides appropriate support, guidance and scope; encourages development and consideration of options in decision making; fosters access to stakeholders.
- Manages designated units or teams by translating business plans into tactical action items; oversees the completion of work assignments and identifies opportunities for improvement; ensures all policies and procedures are followed; partners with key stakeholders and business leaders to ensure products and/or services meet requirements and expectations while aligning with departmental strategies. Aligns team efforts; builds accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; assumes responsibility for decision making; fosters direct reports to resolve escalated issues as appropriate. Communicates goals and objectives; incorporates resources, costs, and forecasts into team and unit plans; ensures matrixed resources are fulfilling service or performance requirements across reporting lines. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams and units to operate in alignment with operational and business objectives.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise by: implementing and/or leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites on the implementation of clinical standards and protocols and complex, long-term projects based on the latest research and industry developments to improve workflow efficiencies and patient outcomes; developing and implementing evidence-based practice standards for multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites, and overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of related outcomes and providing training to ensure adherence to evidence-based and medically necessary standards; providing training and education to multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites on industry developments to promote the adoption of best practices based on emerging evidence and community standards; and strategizing and directing participation in appropriate and approved educational and clinical development opportunities (e.g., quality improvement activities, continuing education courses, staff training) to maintain and enhance competencies in professional practice for multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites.
- Leads teams in maintaining a safe and compliant care practice by: leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices; leading teams on data analysis and reporting processes to ensure effective and compliant reporting for administrative and regulatory purposes and disseminating insights from reports to multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites; leading teams in identifying and mitigating potential risks to patient, staff, and member safety through the development and implementation of safety protocols; implementing policies and procedures across multiple sites for reporting and managing safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions, and developing preventative measures and new policies and procedures to avoid future incidents; and accountable for ensuring that teams maintain confidentiality and security for all patient, staff, and member records and information, promoting a culture of safety and fostering accountability across multiple disciplines and/or locations.
- Leads efficient and effective operations management by: overseeing allocation of resources (e.g., personnel, equipment) across multiple sites and in alignment with financial targets, monitoring financial performance and leading efforts to maximize cost savings; overseeing the work of managers or leads who are responsible for the coordination of stocking shelves, taking inventory, ordering supplies, and cleaning equipment to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness; leading the analysis of performance metrics to assess effectiveness of services across multiple sites and leading the implementation of data-driven solutions to enhance service delivery (e.g., quality, efficiencies, cost); and leading strategic planning, staffing, budget, and performance discussions for multiple sites, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives.
- Leads patient care practices by: conducting and/or overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites to conduct comprehensive assessments of patient condition and needs and creating new care pathways within the medical center; overseeing and setting the vision for the development and implementation of patient care plans and coordinating across departments and disciplines for models of care to optimize patient care planning and care delivery; leveraging expert knowledge of patient safety and care practices to design and implement innovative solutions to patient concerns and influence provision of care across departments and disciplines for model of care to ensure safe administration of medications, procedures, and/or infection control; working with leaders to develop and implement standardized criteria for determining medical necessity and need for continued care based on rate of progress; leading complex, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites to prioritize patient advocacy and continuously assess treatment efficacy to identify needs for treatment modifications; overseeing modifications to treatment/care plans of multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites, providing expert consultation for highly complex cases that require modifications to patient care; and monitoring discharge processes of multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites for patients who have reached established goals or received maximum treatment benefits.
- Leads service quality improvement initiatives by: developing and executing projects across multiple sites with multi-disciplinary teams and functions to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of therapy services and coordination of care services; providing high-level guidance and support to multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites in the resolution of complex service/care issues, unusual occurrences (UOs), and patient complaints/grievances; leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites through the identification and implementation of innovative process improvements that maximize access, improve efficiency, and maintain quality outcomes of therapy services; fostering collaboration with key stakeholders across multiple sites to drive organizational transformation and continuous improvement, and promoting a culture of learning, innovation, and excellence; and leading teams in the development and implementation of new products and services that align with company goals, member needs, and emerging evidence and trends in health care, promoting implementation of new products/services by multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites.
- Masters degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy AND minimum five (5) years of experience in clinical rehabilitation therapy or a directly related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Speech-Language Pathologist License (California) required at hire OR Physical Therapist License (California) required at hire OR Occupational Therapist License (California) required at hire
- PECOS Enrollment within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire

- Two (2) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
