Job Summary:

Leads healthcare technology strategy and planning for inpatient/outpatient healthcare delivery through highly complex and large-scale assessments, needs, and site planning, as well as implementing systems and through investment analyses. Creates new and matures existing partnerships for clinical systems deployment and collaborates on incident investigations as needed. Provides healthcare technology expertise for testing clinical systems and equipment, resolving a wide range of complex issues, and documenting overall process. Leads innovative planning for healthcare technology research and assesses new healthcare-related technologies across the market with consideration of enterprise impacts. Provides oversight for compliance/regulatory requirements through coordinating with executive management for relevant processes and reviewing FDA and non-regulatory hazard alerts in a healthcare delivery setting. Develops, analyzes, and manages technology plans through a variety of program management methodologies for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Prepares individuals for growth opportunities and advancement; builds internal collaborative networks for self and others. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; drives collaboration to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to foster performance improvement. Demonstrates continuous learning; oversees the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; ensures performance management guidelines and expectations to achieve business needs. Stays up to date with organizational best practices, processes, benchmarks, and industry trends; shares best practices within and across teams. Motivates and empowers teams; maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning resource plans with business objectives. Provides guidance when difficult decisions need to be made; creates opportunities for expanded scope of decision making and impact.
  • Oversees the operation of multiple units within a department by identifying member and operational needs; ensures the management of work assignment completion; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies. Gains cross-functional support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and fosters resolution of escalated issues. Communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; prioritizes and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives.
  • Leads clinical systems by: creating new and maturing existing partnerships with user groups and strategic partners and coaching the teams to develop equipment configurations, review facility construction plans and equipment lists, and provide technical or environment requirements for deployment highly complex or large-scale projects for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts; and modeling best practice and leading the team on highly complex and large-scale incident investigations and equipment performance analysis on highly complex and ambiguous problems to determine root causes of issues, develop solutions, and driving implementation of preventative measures to ensure a safe environment.
  • Addresses compliance and needed corrections by: driving team to coordinate with other stakeholders to include executive management to ensure systems and processes are used and maintained in a manner that ensures compliance with all relevant government regulations, accreditation, and industry standards; conducting strategic planning to determine the future of quality assurance and evaluation programs for consistent standards and excellent service with limited direction within a market with consideration for enterprise impacts to support the service, quality, access, and efficiency goals while meeting all compliance and regulatory requirements; and leveraging expertise to provide sufficient level of detail for technical, financial, environmental, operational, regulatory/legal, and maintenance/support aspects to be defined, scoped, and understood by the project management teams who will execute against these plans to ensure that technology integration plans lead to the attainment of organizational goals.
  • Drives technical expertise for clinical systems by: leading and coordinating highly technical testing through teams on all clinical systems and associated equipment and technology; leading the development of best practice and strategies to identify, monitor, and resolve highly complex and large-scale healthcare technology issues that present a risk to the enterprise or organizational goals; monitoring and evaluating the management, documentation, and maintenance program, through assessing the management, documentation, and maintenance of all relevant records for healthcare technology systems and equipment; advocating for industry-leading solutions through technical expertise and consulting for operational impacts on a wide range of complex technical issues, and coaching teams within the market with consideration of enterprise impacts using industry best practices and overseeing projects in support of organizational objectives; and leading new cyber security processes and protocols that impact the industry in healthcare through driving teams to ensure implementation within and the enterprise and collaboration across the industry in accordance with industry and company standards for healthcare technology.
  • Develops and oversees strategies for clinical systems by: leading highly complex and large-scale healthcare technology assessments, needs analysis, and site planning to identify and recommend appropriate healthcare technologies for planning and implementation; leading and providing support for teams on the assessment, design, and implementation of highly complex systems that enhance networking, integration, and interoperability of healthcare technologies for the market; driving the application of highly complex strategies while leading the team to conduct standard to highly complex cost-benefit analyses; and collaborating and educating executive leaders to gain buy-in and alignment with care strategies to support healthcare technology purchasing strategies, forecasts, and service contracts that impact short and long-term objectives for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts.
  • Leads innovative planning related to healthcare technologies by: leading the team through delivery of processes that enables the research, assessment, and development of new health care related technologies, strategies, and concepts while disseminating this information as appropriate across multiple markets and aligning with processes with consideration of enterprise impacts within the broader healthcare technology program; and strategically planning and leading teams to implement the research process for multiple markets with consideration of enterprise impacts, to stay abreast of cutting-edge technology, future roadmaps, and industry trends around products and services, and coordinating technology pilots (e.g., attending conferences or tradeshows, vendor product events).
  • Directs, analyzes, and manages technology plans by: maintaining governance and driving overall program execution for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts; and leading and evolving overall program performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope, and with quality) for a market with consideration of enterprise impacts against plan, ensuring measurement of business benefits and outcomes, and making adjustments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Biomedical, Clinical, Mechanical, Electrical), engineering technology, or related field AND minimum eight (8) years of experience in engineering or a directly related field OR Minimum eleven (11) years of experience in engineering or a directly related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience in project management.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a leadership role of a large matrixed organization.
