Senior Analyst, Laboratory Information System
This position is responsible for providing analytical and process support to the Cerner LIS and HealthConnect / Epic Operations team and the end users of the Cerner application. The Analysis evaluates functional user requirements and provides recommendations to build, modify, and enhance the respective Cerner system accordingly. This position will validate that the software and hardware are configured properly to support the initial and ongoing use of the Cerner system. This position will also be required to assist management in enhancing the overall utilization of the Cerner system. Functions as a laboratory SME and collaborates with all departments requesting LIS support for production support, SOX compliance and new regional projects. The incumbent will be responsible for rotating through after hours and weekend on call as necessary to support enhancement and production issues. This position requires the incumbent to travel throughout the region as necessary addressing system concerns.
- Responsible for testing the Cerner system, including any configurations, customizations, and new releases, prior to product implementation.
- Responsible for identifying and making sure that lab orderables are configured properly and flow correctly between other ancillary systems.
- Responsible for identifying and managing application errors and system enhancement requests.
- Responsible for managing system concerns for the Cerner team, business partners and end users.
- Troubleshoot and assist the project team with Cerner system issues.
- Assists with the development of ongoing maintenance and support procedures for the Cerner system.
- Responsible for communicating system changes to the end user and training staff.
- Acts as the liaison between the Epic business partners.
- Assists with the design, development, and testing of system.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Will be required to be on call or on site during periods of system up-grades, enhancements and validations (including weekends and off hours).
- Experienced in developing lab orderables, work plans, and work-flows and overall understanding of lab operations.
- Must also have a keen understand of the overall lab billing workflow.
- If applicable, monitor/maintain the RF queue and research as needed to make sure that all reports are submitted to the ordering provider. Research and update provider information as needed. - If applicable, facilitate install of new analyzers interfaces and develop test plans that ensure that implementations are successful.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum two (2) years of system related support.
- Minimum three (3) years of healthcare experience.
- Bachelors degree in medical technology or minimum four (4) years of LIS support experience OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Medical Lab Scientist Certificate OR Medical Technologist Certificate OR American Board of Bioanalysis Medical Technologist Certificate OR American Medical Technologist Medical Technologist Certificate
- Able to work independently.
- Able to demonstrate customer service aptitude through customer service assessment and/or history.
- Able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills i.e. history of positive working relationships.
- Able to demonstrate dependability i.e. history of punctuality and good attendance.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Minimum four (4) years of previous laboratory experience.
- Cerner experience, Computer skills; Microsoft Office, Excel.
- Bachelors degree in medical technology or related health science.
