Inventory Management Lead
Performs lead inventory management responsibilities including overseeing receiving, counting, picking, ordering, stocking and distributing of medical and non-medical supplies and equipment for the department in a timely manner with exceptional customer service. Creates order requisitions for items, materials or services of non-technical, technical, or specialized nature for use throughout the facilities. Performs audits. Monitors status of products including backorders, and communicates with appropriate staff in a timely and professional manner and researches possible substitute products. Oversees support and training of Inventory Management Associates and ensures that all responsibilities are performed correctly and efficiently through recommendations and reporting to Inventory Management Supervisor.
- Orients, trains and supports personnel regarding departmental operations, requirements and specific job functions/duties; monitors work performance of Inventory Management Associates; makes recommendations to supervisor as appropriate; coordinates work activities of staff and monitors and supports adequate coverage at all times.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring all assignments are performed efficiently and precisely according to department standards.
- Checks/orders supplies needed for department operations.
- Files reports; completes log; recalls positive biological products from user departments; notifies supervisor.
- Fills requisitions received from various departments and outlying clinics for items; removes needed supplies, packs or storage areas; distributes via appropriate.
- Participates in quality control activities.
- Ensures cleanliness and neatness of work areas; wipes and straightens shelves, tables and equipment; wipes shelves, carts and drawers, while restocking.
- Assists patient care units in obtaining supplies/equipment from other facilities when necessary; arranges for transportation; processes appropriate documents.
- Prepares, checks and organizes requisitions and supply cart issue forms; ensures accurate charges to facilitate data entry.
- Ensures staff restock supplies on shelves; pulls outdated articles; receives and checks quantities of supplies from warehouse; participates in cyclical and annual inventory procedures.
- Prepares inpatient discharge supplies; completes requisition and ancillary charge slips; distributes supplies and documents.
- Inventories and restocks departmental supply carts and specialty carts; records issues for each cart restocked; completes required records.
- Accesses authorized computerized information; inputs inventory issues as assigned; files completed requisitions and forms; updates replenishment area profiles as necessary; enters counts; prints and issues picklists as scheduled; reproduces forms as needed.
- Maintains daily inventory of all equipment issued to various areas of hospital; records issuing and receiving dates of equipment; verifies location of issued equipment.
- Receives and processes telephone calls; provides routine information; takes orders for supplies; takes messages; refers to appropriate person.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service.
- Minimum (1) one year of experience in inventory management or related experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of Central Services training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job).
- Driver's License (Hawaii)
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, leadership, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork, and written communication.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in inventory management or related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in hospital inventory management.
- Training specific to hospital inventory control or supply management.
- Associates degree in materials management or healthcare administration, or related field.
