This role is responsible for leading Epic integration initiatives and ensuring reliable interoperability between Epic and numerous internal and external healthcare systems. The Lead Epic Bridges Analyst serves as both a technical expert and team leader.
A typical week may include:
Designing and reviewing interface solutions for new clinical or business initiatives.
Troubleshooting complex production issues impacting patient care or revenue workflows.
Leading project workstreams and coordinating with application teams, vendors, and infrastructure teams.
Mentoring analysts and reviewing technical designs and build quality.
Participating in upgrade planning, testing, and release activities.
Supporting critical incidents and driving root cause analysis for recurring issues.
Success in this role requires someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with clinical and operational stakeholders, and taking ownership of integration strategy and delivery.
Core Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, optimization, and support of Epic Bridges integrations.
Serve as the technical lead for interoperability initiatives involving Epic and third-party applications.
Analyze business and clinical requirements and translate them into scalable integration solutions.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex interface issues while ensuring system reliability and performance.
Lead interface testing, validation, and deployment activities for projects, upgrades, and system changes.
Partner with operational, clinical, application, and vendor teams to support enterprise integration needs.
Establish and maintain integration standards, documentation, and best practices.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to other analysts on the team.
Facilitate root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts to improve integration stability and supportability.
Participate in on-call support and issue escalation management as needed.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Assists technical and project team members to resolve system problems and application-specific issues.
- Supports the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems (e.g., systems, applications, network, databases, storage, security) by performing complex systems analysis to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provides first and second level support for enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize system issues.
- Escalates unresolved or critical issues, risks or problems to system engineers.
- Supports communications with product users and suppliers to share information, identify opportunities, resolve problems, prioritize customer requirements, and maintain continuous improvement through customer feedback.
- Plans and performs complex system configuration.
- Participates in installs, upgrades, or decommissions of designated systems, products, and infrastructure.
- Creates documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and ensures system configurations documentation is complete and accurate.
- Plans the implementation of hardware and software changes into environments and one or more additional IT production environments by performing impact analyses of system changes.
- Supports vendor support activities, as appropriate.

- Minimum three (3) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR Minimum three (3) years scripting or programming experience.
- Minimum one (1) year in an informal leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and Minimum six (6) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
5+ years of hands-on Epic Bridges experience supporting healthcare integrations.
Epic Bridges Certification (current or previously certified).
Strong knowledge of HL7 v2 messaging, interfaces, interface troubleshooting, and workflow analysis.
Experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex integrations between Epic and third-party systems.
Strong understanding of HL7, APIs/FHIR, web services, data mapping, and interface engines (e.g., Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Mirth).
Ability to analyze end-to-end integration architecture and resolve complex issues.
Experience leading projects, coordinating analysts, and serving as a technical lead.
Ability to mentor junior analysts and establish best practices.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience supporting production healthcare systems in a 24x7 environment.
Strong incident management, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience managing integration upgrades, testing, and change control processes.
Strong understanding of clinical, revenue cycle, ancillary, and interoperability workflows.
Ability to translate operational and clinical requirements into technical integration solutions
