Description:
Salary Range:  $59.09/hour - $69.47/hour

Job Summary:

This role ensures Advance Practice Providers (APPs) provide high-quality, accessible, cost-effective, equitable, and inclusive patient care by focusing on (1) providing clinical practice leadership and advocacy for all employed APN/PA care team members, (2) ensuring safe and effective care practices, and (3) driving APP practice to the fullest scope of licensure. The role is accountable for developing and managing the quality of advanced practice clinical services in assigned service areas by working collaboratively with CPMG, Operations, labor partners, and local leadership.


Essential Responsibilities:

Transformational Leadership


  • Collaborates with CPMG Practice Partners, Labor, KFHP-CO leadership, and Risk Management to assess competency, documentation, and outcomes of care provided by APNs/PAs in specific service areas.

  • Collaborates with Human Resources and Credentialing in the screening, recruiting and onboarding of new APNs/PAs to ensure appropriate population focus and organizational fit.

  • Collaborates and partners with local leadership, CPMG, to complete knowledge and skill assessments, develop orientation plans, and meeting individual training needs for APN/PA new hires by leveraging resources in a service area.


Structural Empowerment


  • Knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, leadership, and KP business partners.

  • Identifies systems issues/barriers related to APN/PA models of care delivery and develops solutions in collaboration with other stakeholders, including other APN/PA Clinical Practice Managers, CPMG partners, Quality, and KFHP-CO Leadership


Exemplary Professional Practice


  • Completes on-site/direct rounding and observations validating scope of practice adherence in conjunction with collaborating physicians and leaders

  • Identifies gaps, creates action plans, and facilitates remediation if necessary to improve overall quality of care for our members. This includes accessing patient, member, and staff confidential information as needed to provide quality review and performance review of APN/PA practice standards

  • Ensures that APNs/PAs comply with various department, organizational, local, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements

  • Provides clinical and APN/PA subject matter expertise to regional strategic work groups.


New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvements


  • Actively participates in local/regional APN and PA Professional associations in order to meet future organizational needs.

  • Maintain awareness of current legislative and compliance programming impacting APP practice standards

  • Provides direction regarding regional APN/PA utilization and practice models through independent research and subject matter expertise in Scope of Practice on the National, State, and local levels. Stays abreast of community/industry standards and benchmarks related to APN/PA practice

  • Identifies annual learning needs of the regions APN/PA workforce. Develops and oversees educational opportunities and activities through independent research and collaboration with peer subject matter experts and CPMG partners


Empirical Outcomes


  • Participate in planning, developing and executing strategic programs across the region to achieve performance against national quality benchmarks related to APN/PA utilization and performance.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant, preferably in the Ambulatory Care setting with demonstrated leadership and/or management skills.
Education

  • APN: Masters Degree in Nursing - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (NP, CNM, CNS, CRNA).
  • PA: Bachelors Degree and graduation from an accredited PA program.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Nurse License (Colorado) AND Nurse Practitioner National Certificate AND Advanced Practice Nurse Registration (Colorado) AND APN Prescriptive Authority License (Colorado)
      OR
  • Physician Assistant License (Colorado) AND Physician Assistant National Certificate from National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants
Additional Requirements:

  • APN/PA: Must be able to maintain certification and licensure independently - this position does not include any clinical hours/ direct patient care internally.
  • Demonstrated competency and experience in developing education/adult learning methods (in-services/orienting new hires).
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of scope of practice, credentials, professional guidelines related to advanced practice and models of care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Quality Improvement and translating evidence to practice.
  • Strong customer focused skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully resolve conflict.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to colleagues.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft 365 and other software/programs as necessary).
  • Post-graduate education in a relevant field (PhD, DNP, DMSc, MBA, MHA, MPH) preferred.
