Salary Range: $53.37/hour - $62.74/hour



Job Summary:

 Provides strategic direction for multiple laboratory and business systems. Manages the Laboratory Information Systems Department, which provides region-wide laboratory and business information systems support and service. Manages and directs designated professional and non-professional staff. Plans, designs, and maintains the Laboratory Information System (LIS) used by all Colorado Regions laboratory departments. Manages the staff and system resources of the LIS Department. Facilitates policy development and administration relative to system and departmental operation. Plans for and manages departmental resources and identifies and resolves system problems, coordinates new implementations of the system. Ensures that LIS Department maintains system data integrity. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance for the Laboratory. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, external laws and accreditation standards as they relate to Laboratory.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for laboratory systems, laboratory services and related projects. Plans, directs, organizes, monitors, and manages region-wide laboratory information, technical and support services in a cost-effective manner. Consults with and serves as an interface with laboratory management, staff, and appropriate committees for the purpose of ensuring coordination in systems planning, development and implementation between laboratory, KPIT, CPMG, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, vendors, and clients regionally and nationally.

  • Manages and coordinates daily workflow for professional and non-professional staff.

  • Provides expertise to other departments, KP regions and clients in support of laboratory information systems, products, and services. Responsive to current and future needs of the organization.

  • Develops national and regional business cases and budget for LIS Department, LIS replacement, upgrades, and deployment. Coordinates business, IT, finance, and operations support in program management of multiple laboratory information systems.

  • Serves as KPCO Lab Representative on KP National Laboratory Information Technology (LITe) subgroup, and responsible for developing and driving a successful national program-wide Kaiser Permanente Lab Technology program.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience maintaining/supporting clinical systems.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as a supervisor or in a lead role.
Education

  • Bachelors degree required in information technology, health care or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:

  • Proven ability to build and motivate teams.
  • Knowledge of lab information systems, computer systems and personal computers, including MS Windows applications.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of staff and leaders.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication, as well as superior customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining/supporting laboratory systems.
  • Masters degree in an IT or health care field preferred.
