Description:
Job Summary:

Responsible for Physical Therapy management of members under the direction and supervision of the Rehabilitation Manager. This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanentes Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanentes policies and procedures. In addition, Regional leaders are accountable for communication, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, and oversight of compliance policies and practices in their departments. In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Assumes all responsibilities as outlined in Physical Therapist II job description.

  • Provides direct member care through a variety of modalities, including in-person, telephonic, and/or video-based services.

  • Provides consultation and mentoring to the Physical Therapy staff in general practice and their specific area of specialization.

  • Provides education to physical therapists through formal and informal education in their specialty both locally and regionally.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care to members who require their expertise.

  • For their area of specialty, acts as a consultant to staff members for the management of members and is a resource for on-going, professional development of the staff in their specialty. Assesses staff competencies, clinical judgment, education, and training needs in their specialty. Provides direct member care, especially for members with complex problems related to their specialty.

  • Provides competent member care at a senior level as defined below. Senior therapists provide leadership to the department, supervise PTAs, students, and support staff.

  • Provides a leadership role to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Physical Therapy services.

  • Provides clinical direction to staff in our role as senior staff.

  • Assumes responsibility for the management of high volume of members, including those with complex problems or special needs in their area of specialty.

  • Aids the Lead Therapist/ Rehabilitation Manager as needed and covers for Lead Therapist/Rehabilitation Manager when they are unavailable.

  • Provides coverage as needed in other facilities within the region if appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum five (5) years of full-time practice experience in the area of specialty practice required.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum with a bachelors or masters or doctoral degree with certification in physical therapy or foreign-trained equivalent required.
  • Completion of a post graduate degree from an accredited university with a specialty focus such as an advanced practice masters or doctoral degree relevant to Physical Therapy. Entry-level or transition degrees are not acceptable, Or completion of an APTA or AAOMPT approved fellowship/residency, Or American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification in a specialty area (OCS, NCS, SCS, etc.), Or has obtained a certification in a subject matter that is pertinent to the Kaiser.
License, Certification, Registration
  • This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
  • Physical Therapist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire
  • Physical Therapist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire
  • Physical Therapist License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire
  • Physical Therapy Direct Access Certification (Virginia) within 6 months of hire
  • PECOS Enrollment within 1 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • National Provider Identifier
Additional Requirements:

  • Permanente member population and is clinically based.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and problem-solving abilities in the clinic and to our members.
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the criteria for professional practice.
  • Demonstrates leadership in project management, teaching, clinical instructor for students, committee membership.
  • Evidence of involvement in staff development and mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaches physical therapy related health education classes.
  • Actively involved in supervision and orientation of volunteers within Physical Therapy Department.
  • Participates in community activities and member education at least 2 times per year, which may include teaching health education classes, participating in medical center functions and attending community health fairs.
  • Knowledge of or practice in at least 75% of PT clinical competencies preferred.
