Description:
Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, provides basic care of treatment to selected patients, in accordance with the treatment prescribed by the physician and nursing policies and procedures; replenish unit supplies or materials; transports patient, laboratory specimens or medical records and responds to multi-unit needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

Patient Health Care. Assist patients with personal hygiene, bathing and sitz baths. Give enemas. Initiate emergency procedures (including CPR) and provide emergency patient treatment. Lift patients. Perform surgical preps. Prepare and position patients for procedures. Respond to Code Blues. Assist patients with ambulation and exercises. Equipment and Instruments. Assemble/disassemble equipment and instruments. Arrange for equipment repair. Make minor repairs to equipment. Maintain supply of oxygen and gas tanks. Transportation. Transport patients to/from designated areas. Transport expired patients to/from designated areas. Transport laboratory specimens and equipment. Materials and Supplies. Order supplies. Replenish bed linen and sanitary supplies. Administrative and Other. Train and orient new or less experienced personnel. Train and orient staff to equipment techniques and procedures. Answer call lights. Locate personnel by paging system or beeper. Other Activities and Responsibilities. Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed. Basic Qualifications:

Experience


  • Minimum one (1) year experience in an acute hospital medical/surgical area, including skilled nursing facility, extended care facility, convalescent care, or enrollment in second semester of nursing program.


Education


  • Must pass written Nursing Attendant test.


License, Certification, Registration


  • Basic Life Support


Additional Requirements:


  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic math skills required.

  • Ability to help with transportation, lifting, and moving of patients.


Notes:



  • This is an on call position, days and hours may vary.

  • Standby and weekend shifts required. 

  • Will work in CHA, PACUs, procedure rooms, and Preop
