Description:
Job Summary:

This senior individual contributor position is responsible for leading the administration of pension related employee benefits program analysis, reporting and compliance. This includes conducting research and analysis for represented and non-represented employees, conducting needs assessments, and researching complex documents across multiple benefits programs, systems, and technologies.  This also includes leading projects involving multiple types of data sets and corrective measures, overseeing and ensuring accurate and timely compliance with all pension operations activities, and leading special projects and implementation programs as assigned.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Performs detailed analysis of complex pension information by leveraging a comprehensive understanding of diverse plans and eligibility requirements; leading the collection and formatting of data from multiple systems and technologies; and performing issues management and valuation files research.

  • Manages complex pension participant cases and project reports to evaluate and research information such as hours worked and leaves of absence by coordinating corrections with multiple stakeholders and plan types according to needs assessment; updating vendor systems; and translating code from legacy systems into new HR systems and vendor platforms.

  • Provides consultation and support for benefits plan implementation by serving on departmental teams to ensure the successful implementation of new benefit plans or changes to existing benefit plans; partnering with other departments or functions as necessary; identifying and escalating issues for resolution; collaborating on new projects with vendors to validate requirements, perform data analysis, and test vendor technologies for plan accuracy; and supporting process improvement efforts with both internal team and vendors.

  • Leads the execution of benefits plan documentation, reporting, and compliance by providing consultation for the annual documentation of employee benefit plans; performing issues management; researching valuation files; and participating on cross-functional teams including external consultants and counsel to implement and/or perform remediation or corrective actions to maintain plan compliance.

  • Builds and maintains relationships with outside vendors and/or consultants by working directly with external teams to ensure departmental goals are achieved; supporting process improvement initiatives; and providing mentoring and training to team members as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, Social or other sciences, Public Administration or related field and five (5) years experience in benefits administration, data analytics, or a directly related field. Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.


Additional Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years experience in pension plan administration, including the analysis and interpretation of plan documents, pension calculations, and the review and approval of plan provisions.
  • Three (3) years vendor management experience.
  • Three (3) years experience in analyzing and reviewing communications, policy and plan documents and plan summaries to ensure accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Five (5) years work experience requiring data analysis and reporting.
  • Three (3) years experience working with ERISA benefit plans.
  • Three (3) years experience working cross-functionally across departments, functions, or business lines.
