Description:
Job Summary:

Responsible for developing and supporting a strategic government relations program that enhances Kaiser Permanents involvement in the community. Coordinates government relations efforts with key staff to ensure program is integrated state-wide and nationally.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.

  • Assist the Public Affairs Leader to develop and implement a comprehensive government relations strategy which includes: Establish and maintain positive relationships with strategic community leaders, including legislators, legislative aides, elected officials, business leaders, directors of public health agencies and organizations, charitable organizations, school administrators, health care industry leaders, community planning group members, etc.

  • Educate and influence community leaders by demonstrating Kaiser Permanents value and commitment to the communities we serve.

  • Recommend, develop and direct Kaiser Permanents involvement in government relations projects to support our government, business and community relations objectives.

  • Conceive and design special events to achieve specific community and government relations goals.

  • Serve on community health care and other local task forces, committees, chambers, business organizations and planning groups as a representative of Kaiser Permanente in the Medical Center and facility communities.

  • Work with Divisional and Regional staff on key government, community and business issues.

  • Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in government relations, public policy or communications; including having overall responsibility for major, high profile projects.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with governmental and non-governmental organizations that impacts public policy.

Education

  • Bachelors degree, OR four (4) years of experience in communications, health care administration or other relevant field. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of governmental bodies and community-based organizations that impact the organization.
  • Expert interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree preferred.
