This role is scheduled to be 100% remote. While remote, finalists MUST reside in one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, OR, WA, HI, CO, GA, MD, VA, CT, DC, or IL.



Department Description:


The Operational Readiness (OR) team supports the programs and initiatives led by HPPSA Program Management & Support Services (HPMSS). HPMSS provides consulting services for delivery of high-quality operational initiatives and coherent user journeys on KP Member Connect (KPMC) for KP consumers, clinicians, and workforce. Within the OR team is the Cutover Team; this team offers services which prepares the organization for implementation of the platform and enabling the newly established business processes.  The internship role will be part of the Cutover Team that is supporting the KP Membership Connect (KPMC) program.  The KPMC program is combining KP’s 4 membership administration systems into a single, modern platform that will standardize our membership processes, improve the customer and member experience, and allow us to better operate as one enterprise. KPMC is a multi-year system implementation and process optimization program that will roll out industry leading capabilities for premium billing, enrollment/eligibility updates, group/contract setup, and self-service transaction processing.



Internship Project(s):


As part of the Cutover Team, the intern will assist with compilation of the comprehensive, detailed hour by hour implementation plan for KPIF-On Exchange CA.  The Implementation Plan is developed in partnership with KPIT and many operational teams and orchestrates the activities occurring before, during and after cutover with identified owners of each activity.  The intern will participate in implementation planning sessions under supervision of a senior process improvement consultant in support of developing an implementation plan and requirements across 40 stakeholder teams within Kaiser Permanente. A successful candidate will demonstrate development of positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure support is provided during cutover activities.  The role will also support developing the list of first occurrences which is a list of critical events that should be monitored upon go-live to ensure the health of the platform.

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
