Description:



The Professional Chef delivers hands on instruction on how to prepare healthy meals. This role is responsible for an exceptional experience for members and non-members by creating a fun, interactive learning environment.




Essential Responsibilities:



  • The primary responsibility of the professional chef is to plan healthy menus, develop recipes, and engage class participants and with interactive preparation of dishes. Use natural talents of culinary education and health advocacy to engage and inspire participants to make favorite meals healthier with low fat, sugar and salt options. Order supplies, shop/preparation and check food items for freshness and taste. Display strong motivation for community outreach and working with people. Adjust teaching style to meet needs of class participants including adults, teens and children. Maintain sanitation practices and ensure that all health laws are followed and that department and facility policies are adhered to. Demonstrate outstanding member centric skills. Arrives to teach class in advance of the scheduled time to greet participants, answer questions and address concerns. Assumes any other duties as assigned by the Program Director and Health Education Coordinator. Understands and contributes to Kaiser Permanente's mission, to provide high quality, affordable health care to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve.




 


Basic Qualifications:


Experience



  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as providing professional instruction. 



Education



  • Associate's Degree in nutrition or culinary arts.



License, Certification, Registration

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, culinary art or similar area.
