2024 Summer Internship



Location:


This role is scheduled to be 100% remote. While remote, finalists MUST reside in one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, OR, WA, HI, CO, GA, MD, VA, CT, DC, or IL.



Department Description:


Underwriting & Customer Analytics (UCA) is a department of underwriters, data analysts, programmers, project and program managers, and consultants providing analytic tools and support for KP customers, account teams, and senior leadership’s data and reporting needs both internally and externally. 



Internship Project(s):


• Data and Information gathering for targeted variables in an established systematic fashion          
• Support data preparation for analytic efforts
• Assist with the execution of creative data analytic approaches leading to actionable outcomes
• Assist with the development, implementation, and automation of business and reporting solutions
• Assist with the development of business models, from simple to complex
• Perform analysis on data and information and assist in data analysis interpretation
• Produce customer specific reports to support KP account teams in the market
• Review existing reports, production, and distribution process to identify areas for standardization, improvement and automation 
• Support testing of new reports and data prior to report release
• Work collaboratively with others to identify and address specific data gaps
• Special projects

Computer Science; Business Administration; Healthcare Administration; Data Science



Target Skills:


• Ability to gather, validate and report quantitative information using Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, including developing project plans
• Ability to communicate to and, as needed, support training of KP’s marketing team
• Ability to document processes and procedures


• Demonstrates knowledge of Project Management methodologies, tools, software, and resources
• Experience or desire to learn to create technical documentation
• Interest in gaining exposure to multiple computer-based systems and tools


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Comfort with metrics and simple, accurate data analysis and reporting
• Process oriented; knows how to document processes and improve upon existing processes
• Background in health and wellness, social sciences or similar
• Effective presentation and project management skills
• Flexibility and creativity
• Working independently and in a team setting

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
