Description:
Job Summary:

Manage, implement and support the achievement of business service standards and outcomes in a care delivery district, including primary responsibility for designated medical center(s). Collaborate with district leaders and managers to implement business services work plans and strategies, policies and procedures for current systems and in response to evolving patient experience standards, new product or system initiatives, compliance and regulatory requirements. Lead, engage and manage staff who are responsible for business services.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Leadership: As a member of the Care Delivery Business Services leadership team, contribute to the design and development of standard work and improvement initiatives to meet the business service needs of the organization, care teams and patients. Collaborate with Care Delivery directors and managers within the district to implement business service initiatives and associated processes. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert to district managers to assure that standard work is in place and is being followed related to all areas of patient access, including patient welcome and check-in and/or admit/discharge functions, accurate/timely appointing, and referral/work list/queue processing. Jointly accountable with the district managers for business service metrics/outcomes.

  • Operational Excellence:

  • For the district - Oversee business service practices in all district medical centers to assure that they support clinical care delivery, meet regulatory, compliance and billing requirements, optimize business operations, and provide a reliably excellent patient experience. Manage Business Services float/coverage staff deployed within the district. Work with colleagues across the Care Delivery districts to assure that business service staffing and scheduling are aligned to meet patient needs.

  • For designated medical center(s) - Manage Business Services staff, including selection, training and development, performance management, recognition discipline and termination. Resolve service issues, including patient complaints, as they occur within assigned area.

  • Staff Engagement and Development: Support all team members in achieving performance expectations and standards. Teach and monitor standard work for all front-line processes. Support a culture of excellent service and communication that positively influences staff engagement. Assure a safe, productive, and supportive work environment for all staff.

  • Financial Stewardship & Productivity: Manage within resources allocated; make operational adjustments as needed to meet financial targets. For designated medical centers, manage and monitor all front-line revenue activities for clinical services, including patient registration, account set up and verification, insurance eligibility and prior authorization, medical necessity review and follow up, fee estimates, benefits and patient cost share responsibility communication and documentation, and collection of patient payments prior to service. Assure these processes are in place across the district.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible management experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in business, health care administration or related field or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration

  • Knowledge of health care business support operations, and applications to include medical services information and billing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible management experience in a health care environment.
  • Project management and implementation experience.
  • Understanding of health care compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial management skills.
  • Bachelors degree in business, health care administration or related field.
